MDCAT 2026 Pass Percentage: 66% or 79.43%? The Figures Explained
Two very different MDCAT 2026 pass rates are circulating. They are both right, for different provinces and different thresholds. Here is what each one measures.
Two very different figures are being passed around as "the MDCAT 2026 pass percentage": 66% and 79.43%. They do not contradict each other. They come from different provinces and measure different things.
79.43%: Punjab, against the MBBS mark
UHS reported that 37,708 of the 47,475 candidates who sat the Punjab paper scored at least 99/180, the 55% needed to be eligible for MBBS. That is 79.43%. Against the lower BDS mark of 90/180 the share is 85.22%, or 40,457 candidates. UHS result in full.
66%: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, KMU's own ratio
KMU reported an "overall success ratio" of 66% for the 37,747 candidates who sat the KP paper. It did not say which threshold the ratio uses and gave no qualified count. Several headlines called it the national rate, but the articles themselves attribute it to KMU. KMU result in full.
Why there is no national pass rate
- Each province sat a different paper, set and marked by a different university.
- Results came out on different days, and Sindh's was still provisional on 25 September.
- PMDC has not published a consolidated figure.
Comparing pass rates across provinces mostly compares the papers, not the students.
Which number matters to you
