MDCAT 2026 Passing Marks: 99 for MBBS, 90 for BDS
The minimum MDCAT 2026 marks to be eligible for MBBS and BDS admission, what "passing" does and does not mean, and why merit is decided by the aggregate.
MDCAT 2026 was marked out of 180: 180 MCQs, one mark each, no negative marking. The minimum scores to be eligible for admission are:

"Passing" is eligibility, not admission
Crossing 99 lets you apply for MBBS. It does not decide whether you get a seat. Seats go by merit on the aggregate of Matric, FSc and MDCAT marks, and with tens of thousands of candidates above the mark, public-sector merit closes far above it. In Punjab, 37,708 candidates cleared 99 this year (UHS result).
Scored 90–98?
You are eligible for BDS but not MBBS. Punjab had 3,111 candidates in the 90–99 band. BDS merit is usually lower than MBBS merit, so it is a realistic route for many students. Consider it seriously rather than as a consolation prize.
Below 90?
You are not eligible for MBBS or BDS this cycle. Your options are to reappear in the next MDCAT or look at allied health programmes, which set their own criteria. If you plan to retake, start from the units where you lost the most marks. Our past papers by year and unit-wise MCQs are free.
